BIOGRAPHY:

I have been fascinated with creating art my Still-Life-With-Sunflowerswhole life.  My passion comes from a certain amount of skill, a strong intellectual appreciation of art and the desire to express myself. At Humboldt State I worked primarily in Abstraction. I concentrated on the process of creating. I was fascinated with how a painting would change as it evolved. I embraced giving up control and letting things “flow”. Rarely did I have an end plan for any painting. I simply let the painting evolve.

After decades of spinning my wheels in ordinary jobs, I was fortunate to be able to once again concentrate on painting. My process, however, has changed. I had a desire to learn a more traditional approach. I valued the experimental aspect of making art in college but that did not leave me with a very solid background in making traditional art. I have always appreciated the skill involved in making this type of work and decided to try it. After a few years, I feel I have progressed to a point that I can now combine elements from wandering-trunkstraditional art with the more ethereal abstract art.

In the struggle for self-expression we need to be open to new ideas.  Experimentation feeds the soul. A certain amount of traditional knowledge helps express the soul. I hope to gather more insight by combining traditional and abstract elements and be able to express it with confidence and clarity.
